I Can't Believe I Got My Astrological Chart Done!

Astrology is something I would never have paid for, but I
received a gift from a friend. Why not be gracious and go
see what it's about? It's probably baloney, but what could
it hurt? After all, it was a gift.
"Skeptical" is my middle name. No astrologer was going to
be able to figure out anything about me that I am not
already fully aware of. After all, I have lived with me all
of my life. I made an appointment with many reservations.
She requested my time, place and date of birth. These are
right on my birth certificate, so I read them off to her.
Nervous, curious, I presented myself at her door on time
for the appointment. She looked normal. No fancy capes or
weird hats, just a woman with a computer and some books on
astrology on her desk.
First she showed me a pie shaped chart that she called the
"natal chart." That is a birth chart showing the position
of the planets at the exact time I was born. It is divided
into 12 houses, like pie slices. They each relate to
different aspects of your life: goals, health, work,
children, home, communication & travel, money, self, and
what not. These are things I want to know about in my life.
Each planet's symbol is marked on the pie chart: Pluto,
Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Venus, Mars, Mercury, Moon and
the Sun. They fall at a specific degree of the circle,
which has 360 degrees. Lines are also shown which draw
angles between the planets. They relate to each other
geometrically. You know, squares, triangles, and things
like that.
With 9 planets and 360 degrees and several possible angles,
no two people could possibly have the same birth chart.
Just being born one minute apart changes many things.
Astrologers have studied these for millennia and correlated
them to events and trends in people's lives. They tell us
that the movement of the planets relates to us. This gives
us a way to see the whole forest and not get too caught up
in the details of only trees.
This was just a birth chart reading to tell me about
myself. It is possible to compare current planetary
positions to my birth chart and tell me about upcoming
challenges. Strokes of good fortune are also shown in these
charts. The reading was so accurate about who I am and what
I have done so far that it made me very curious to see what
it might say about the future. Maybe I could even use this
kind of information again. She was very clear that these
are just trends. It is up to me how I interpret and use the
information.
Astrologers can take two people's birth charts and show the
ways they will likely relate in the many areas of life
including money, love, children, etc. It makes it easier to
get along with another person when we have some idea what
their experience is like. "Walk a mile in their shoes."
Even our pets, our country and businesses can have birth
charts that an astrologer can use to give us information.
I felt grateful and surprised that I could get this much
useful information about myself from astrology. What might
this year hold for me? I know it will have its ups and
downs. Wouldn't it be nice to have some clue about those
trends and when they will show up? A lot is happening for
me this year. Maybe astrology could give me some guidance
on where to spend my time and my energy.
